Un-named Insurance Company - February 2004 to the Present Why can't I name the company I work for? Well stupid corporate America...my company has a policy against linking to the company from a personal website...and just to be on the safe side I figured I shouldn't even list who I work for. You can read more about my dealings with my company and this website on the introduction to my blog... Anyway, the job is the same as when I worked at Fireman's Fund. In fact I work with some of the same people I worked with at Fireman's Fund, and some of the same agents, and some of the same clients. But I get paid more and its a much better run organization. So the job is good. Fireman's Fund - June 2002 to February 2004
During the spring before my graduation from college I began looking for a job. I interviewed for some computer printing company, Gallo Wine Sales, and finally Fireman's Fund. Fireman's Fund hired me! It sounded like a neat job...being a Crop Adjuster...going out and looking at farms when they had been damaged and giving growers insurance money! The good news was the job paid ok, and came with a company truck. The bad news...I would have to move to Fresno, in the great Central Valley of California. It is not the nicest place in the world to live...however, because of this it is also very cheap! And it was only 2 hour drive away from where I grew up. I've enjoyed my job, although I quickly found out this company is extremely messed up...so much so that in March of 2003, less than a year after being hired, the company was bought out and we would all be layed off! I worked here until February 2004 when I was finally laid off, and then went to work for another Crop Insurance Company. The Congressional Institute - July 1999 to Sept 2001
In the summer of 1999, I went to live with my 2 sisters in Washington D.C. for the summer. Karen got me a job where she worked managing their websites. I would continue working there each summer, and during the school year I'd work on the sites from home in California. Atascadero Christian Home - September 1997 to June 1999. I work at the Atascadero
Christian Home, which is located in Atascadero (big surprise there)
about a 7 minute drive from my house. It as a non-profit retirement
center/assisted living
I work between 15 and 20 hours a week and am paid $6.00 an hour (as of February 1998). I've been working there since September of 1997. So far I've enjoyed it. Everyday it seems is just slightly different from the last. Other Jobs When I was 13 or 14 I got a job gardening at a Antique Store. I did that for 2 or 3 summers as well as on the weekends during the school year. When I was a sophomore in high school I began working as a janitor at the school I attended, and I did that all through high school and the summer after I graduated, before I started college. Of course I had other odd jobs here and there. One summer for 2 weeks I worked at Domino's Pizza at the county fair, during high school. I also worked doing gardening for some of the properties my father managed. On other occasions I did paid computer consulting and websites! All this work and I'm still broke!
